Description
Though some may look at this flowering plant as if it were fungi, it is indeed a wildflower which greatly benefits from a woodland floor. It lacks chlorophyll so that what makes the plant have clear stalks and white flowers, which stays in its bell shape until its pollinated. The plant gets its nutrients from dead plant material via mycorrhiza. At Skunk-Foster State Natural Area it starts to appear in late July. If you pick the flower, it will soon turn black.
