One chilly Waupaca County January morning, the gift of low 30s Fahrenheit temperatures draped the landscape in a perfect fog, beckoning me to the Little Wolf River north of Iola. Nature's canvas unfolded as snow-clad boulders adorned the riverbanks, harmonizing with the grayscale ice palette of the rapids. The Little Wolf River sculpted a breathtaking course through the icy channel. Snow-covered rocks provided a delicate balance, while the rivers’ lower portion displayed a textured tapestry contrasting with the smooth expanse of snow and ice. Choosing black-and-white photography accentuated the tonal ranges, revealing the subtle nuances of winter's beauty. As I framed this enchanting winter river scene, I marveled at nature's artistry, a reminder of the profound beauty concealed in the simplicity of a frozen moment.
After dedicating five decades to print publishing and photojournalism, primarily in newspapers, I've embarked on a captivating journey to capture the vibrancy of Wisconsin's nature and the enchanting beauty of its woodlands and prairies through the lens of fine art photography and paintography.
